Dave Iverson Snowmobile Accident, Obituary, Death: A snowmobile accident on the Arrowhead Snowmobile Trail north of Orr, Minnesota has resulted in one fatality, authorities confirmed after emergency responders were called to the rural St. Louis County crash site.
Officials with the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office said two snowmobiles collided in a sideswipe fashion while navigating a curve on the trail about one mile north of Sheep Ranch Road. The driver of one machine was thrown from his snowmobile after it rolled several times and was found unresponsive by first responders.
Despite extensive life-saving efforts by emergency crews from multiple agencies, including advanced life support units and air ambulance teams, the 57-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The other snowmobile operator was not injured in the collision, the sheriff’s office reported.
The victim’s identity has not been released pending family notification. Authorities said initial investigations suggest both riders were traveling in opposite directions when the crash occurred.
The Arrowhead Snowmobile Trail is a heavily used recreational route in northern Minnesota, and weather conditions this time of year can create challenging riding environments. Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash and are urging snowmobilers to exercise caution on icy and winding trail sections.
