The crash happened near milepost 1.2 on northbound I-76, about one mile from the Walt Whitman Bridge. State Police said the vehicle left the roadway after encountering snow and ice. It struck a guardrail, a light pole, and a wall before leaving the highway completely.

Preliminary reports indicate that Roque, who was driving, lost control of the vehicle. The car became airborne during the crash, and both Roque and Alvarado were ejected. Emergency responders pronounced them dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Investigators are examining the circumstances of the crash, including road conditions, vehicle speed, and other possible contributing factors. Officials have not released any information regarding whether impairment played a role. The New Jersey State Police continue to investigate the incident to determine exactly what led to the deadly crash.

Emergency crews from the Gloucester City Police Department, local medical services, and the New Jersey Department of Transportation assisted at the scene. The highway was temporarily closed while investigators documented the crash site and crews removed debris, allowing traffic to return safely.
