The news was shared by his son, Damon, who provided a heartfelt account of his father’s final months and the strength he showed throughout his illness. DJ Boognasty began experiencing difficulties with walking in August and spent months visiting doctors in search of answers.

By late October and November, his condition had worsened to the point that he required a wheelchair. After undergoing numerous MRIs and medical tests, he was referred to an ALS clinic when other conditions were ruled out.

On January 27, he was officially diagnosed with ALS, a moment that brought clarity but also heartbreaking reality to the family. During that appointment, doctors discovered his oxygen levels were dangerously low and urged immediate hospitalization.

Wanting to avoid being alone and anxious in an ambulance, he chose to be driven to the emergency room by his family. Tragically, he passed away in the car upon arrival but was briefly revived after extensive CPR.

However, prolonged lack of oxygen caused severe brain damage, and he fell into a coma. Honoring his wishes never to live with severe disabilities, the family made the difficult decision to remove life support.

DJ Boognasty passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. He will be cremated, in accordance with his wishes, and no traditional funeral will be held. Instead, a celebration of life will be planned in the future to honor the joy, music, and connection he brought to so many.

Known for his positive energy and ability to bring people together, DJ Boognasty touched countless lives. His family encourages the community to remember him by spreading love, letting go of petty conflicts, and living boldly—values he embodied every day.
