Man Killed in West Garfield Park Shooting; Suspect in Custody, Weapon Recovered

CHICAGO — A 38-year-old man was fatally shot in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on Sunday afternoon, according to Chicago police.

The shooting occurred at approximately 4:44 p.m., when officers responded to reports of a person injured by gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, police found the man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.

The victim was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

Police confirmed that a 22-year-old man is in custody in connection with the shooting. A firearm was recovered at the scene. Authorities have not released information regarding a possible motive or the circumstances that led up to the shooting.
