According to the Virginia State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. along Route 17 near Dyes Lane. Investigators report that a 2019 Kia Forte traveling northbound ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Kristin, who was driving the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities noted that she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active investigation.

While the details of that tragic morning are difficult to process, they do not define Kristin’s life. She was more than the accident that took her from this world. At 36 years old, Kristin had lived a life filled with experiences, relationships, and memories that mattered deeply to those who knew her. She was a daughter, a friend, a loved one—someone whose presence brought meaning and connection to others.

Kristin’s passing serves as a painful reminder of how fragile life can be and how quickly everything can change. In the quiet hours of the night, a life was lost, and a family’s world was forever altered. The Sumerduck and Fauquier County communities now share in the sorrow, holding Kristin’s loved ones close in thought and prayer.

As the investigation continues, the focus remains on honoring Kristin’s memory and supporting those left behind. May her family and friends find strength in one another, comfort in shared memories, and peace in knowing that Kristin’s life will always be remembered for who she was, not how she died.

Rest in peace, Kristin L. Gheen.
Your life was meaningful, your loss is deeply felt, and your memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved you.
