It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we remember Jayden Cannon, a 22-year-old of Lake City, South Carolina, whose life was tragically cut short in a deadly shooting Saturday night in Florence County.
According to reports from WPDE, Lake City Police responded to a shooting along the 200 block of Independence Avenue. As officers rushed to the scene amid dangerous winter storm conditions, two Lake City police officers were involved in a crash caused by icy roads while en route. Police Chief Patrick Miles confirmed the crash was a low-speed impact, and thankfully, both officers were not seriously injured.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers began their investigation into the shooting that claimed Jayden’s life. Chief Miles stated that a man has been detained in connection with the incident and that the weapon involved has been recovered. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking loss.
Jayden Cannon was more than a name in a news release. He was a young man with dreams, relationships, and a future ahead of him—a son, a friend, and a loved one whose absence leaves a profound emptiness in the Lake City community. At just 22 years old, Jayden’s life ended far too soon, leaving behind grief that words cannot fully capture.
This tragedy has shaken the community, serving as a painful reminder of how quickly lives can be changed forever. As loved ones mourn, the focus turns to honoring Jayden’s memory—remembering who he was, the moments he shared, and the love he gave during his time here.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and all those grieving the loss of Jayden Cannon. May they find strength in one another, comfort in cherished memories, and support from the community during this incredibly difficult time.
Rest in peace, Jayden.
You are loved, you are remembered, and you will never be forgotten.
