Shirley A. Wellman, age 85, of Quincy, died on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 11:30 p.m. in Timber Point Healthcare Center in Camp Point, IL.
Shirley was born on February 1, 1940 in Quincy, a daughter of Arthur V. and Viola L. Butts Beckman.
Shirley attended school in Basco, IL. Professionally, she was a CNA at Sunset Home for 33 years. In her spare time, Shirley enjoyed dancing, fishing, and going to yard sales. She was a member of Quincy Eagles Club. Most of all, Shirley cherished the time that she spent with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her special partner of 12 years, Carl Warning; three children: Kent (Kim) Wellman of Quincy; Pamela “Sue” (Doug) Curtis of Paloma, IL; and Sherry (Ronnie Woodhurst) Parsons of Perry, MO; 18 grandchildren: Joseph Wellman, Beth (Justin) Vaughn, Brittany (Curtiss) Rayl, Kristen (Evan Friye) Barnes, Jason (Alicia) Deming, Melissa (Scott Gronewold) Skinner, Michelle Curtis, Brady Curtis, Tyler Wellman, Jennifer Wellman, Ashley Wellman, Stacey (Melvin) Linder, Brandon (Amy) Payne, Thomas (Beth) Wellman, Luke (Lindsey) Wellman, Gage Wellman, Layla Wellman, and Abby (Chris Gates) Parsons; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; two sons: Kevin Wellman and Steve Wellman; a sister, Vickie Joan Beckman; and three brothers, Lloyd, Maurice, and Larry Beckman.
Visitation: 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Shirley’s family requests that attendees dress casually, in the way that Shirley would prefer.
Services: 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Rains officiating.
Inurnment: A private inurnment will be held Greenmount Cemetery at a later date.
